Donald Wayne "Uncle Duck" Jenkins

Mr. Donald Wayne "Uncle Duck" Jenkins, age 75 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 14, 2020. He was born in Lanett, Alabama to the late James Arthur and Essie Maudie Harwell Jenkins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Fay Laney. He graduated from North Clayton High School, Class of 1963 and was on the South Georgia Football Championship Team, coached by Max Dowis. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. Donald retired after 25 years with the Southeastern Carpenters and Millwright's Union. He enjoyed fishing, coaching football and softball and was lovingly known as "Uncle Duck". He loved to help everyone and made sure they were all ok. Survivors include his brothers, Bobby (Frances) Jenkins of Jackson, Edward (Carol) Jenkins of Steinhatchee, FL and Arthur (Evelyn) Jenkins of Jackson; daughter, Sandra (Wayne) Bartlett of Hampton; grandson, Trevor Bartlett of Hampton; numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family Jacob, Tori, Tiffani and Haley. A memorial service will be held at Philippi Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 27, 2020. The church is located at 2355 Old Jackson Road in Locust Grove, Georgia. Pastor Dalton Kuhn will officiate the service.

Duck and I were building our house's at the same time in McDonough (35 years ago). With him being a carpenter, he was a huge help to me when I often "ran out of talent". Duck was a great neighbor. I'm sad to hear that he has passed on.
