

Doris Evelyn Atkinson Moseley, age 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday morning, October 2, 2024, at Oakwood Senior Living in Knoxville, TN. Doris was born on September 5, 1925, in Almon, GA to the late William Perry Atkinson and Lottie Viola Rice Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Forrest Buchanan Moseley, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brother Rudolph (Mary) Atkinson, sister Allie Winn Atkinson (Ed) King, sister Maudell Atkinson (Robert) Hay, son-in-law Darryl James Butler, and granddaughter Audrey Evelyn Butler.
Those left to cherish her memory include son Forrest (Brenda) Buchanan Moseley, Jr., son John (Paula) Walter Moseley, daughter Penny Lisa Moseley Butler; grandchildren Elizabeth, Dustin (Micah), Dylan (Kobi), Dawson (Samantha), Greyson, Hayden; great-grandchildren Jackson, Kinsley, Thatcher, Desmond, Walter; and many nieces and nephews.
She and her husband were members of Glenwood Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, and later Metro Heights Baptist Church in Stockbridge, GA. She was employed by Liberty National Life Insurance Company in her early years of working outside the home, was a full-time homemaker when her children were younger, and worked for and retired from Stone Mountain Handbags in her later years. She was a wonderful Southern cook and was known for her delicious cakes. Everyone looked forward to those home-made cakes at birthday parties, reunions, holidays, church potlucks, or anytime in between!
What a mark she has left on everyone who knew her. She was kind, loving, and giving to everyone. Her impact will be felt for years to come. Her children have so many fond memories of her love, strength, and sacrifices. As a mom, she set the bar high. She will always be loved and remembered. Her legacy will be cherished. We will dearly miss her until we see her again in Heaven; what a great reunion that will be.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00am at the Moseley Family Cemetery in McDonough, GA. Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough is assisting the family with local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Samaritan's Purse or a charity that you already support.
