Dorothy Frances "Nannie" Thomaston, age 91, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Dorothy was born October 2, 1930 in Carrollton, Georgia to the late William Hampton and Sudie Izora McCarty Akers. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Effie Chambers and Thelma Glover.
Dorothy retired after 27 years from Bressler Brothers Uniform Company, where she was a seamstress creating military uniforms and fox hole covers. Nannie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and loved doting on her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting angels, sewing, doing crafts and finding treasures at yard sales.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Cheryl and Joey Sheets; grandchildren and their spouses, Lindsay and Aaron Cain and Jay and Railey Sheets; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 2, 2022 - 2:00 pm in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Berea Cemetery in Hampton, complete with a dove release in memory of Nannie. Friends may visit the family Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
