They enjoyed “coffee talk” on Saturday mornings, trips together, and just spending time with one another. They have four wonderful children, Tyler, Ethan, Olivia, and Ella who are the pride and joy of Doug’s life. There was nothing more important to Doug than taking care of his family and spending time with them.
Doug was passionate about Asian food and baseball. His love for baseball began with his own journey as a pitcher in high school, then college, and finally a short stint in the minors. He didn't make it to the majors, but was able to watch his son enjoy that same passion for baseball and have an opportunity to play at the professional level as well. Doug was a big Braves fan and enjoyed going to games with his family.
He grew up in Lithonia,GA and attended Forest Hills Christian, Hawthorne Christian, and later Mount Vernon Christian School in Stockbridge, GA where he graduated in 1991. Doug was a member of First Baptist Church Locust Grove where he served for 18 years. His faith was very important to him, and he tried to share that with others through his words and the way he lived his life. He was known for his willingness to take the initiative and help with whatever was needed whether it was teaching a Sunday school class, volunteering to help with a community outreach, or just making sure everyone who came in the service had a seat. Throughout his life, Doug gave generously to anyone in need, family, friends, or homeless people he met on the street. He always wanted people to feel important and appreciated.
Doug was hard working, determined, generous, and passionate about the things and people he loved. He was a loyal friend, proud father, faithful and devoted husband, and loving son and brother. He loved his family and his Lord well ,and he will be greatly missed.
