Mrs. Elizabeth Bullock Bridges, age 102, of McDonough, GA passed away August 30, 2018. Mrs. Bridges was born in Raleigh, NC the daughter of the late Minta Baugh Bullock and William Green Bullock. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lee Bridges; sisters, Mildred Griner, Eunice Bullock and Lucille Shupe; brothers, Benjamin Bullock and William Bullock, JR.
Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially the gatherings in her home at Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan since the first day they arrived in Atlanta. She rarely missed listening to the games on radio or watching on television. She greatly enjoyed her church family and participating in church activities. As a longtime member of Avondale First Baptist Church, she was active in the GA’s program, vacation Bible School and her Sunday School class activities. Failing physical health limited her participation at McDonough First Baptist, but she faithfully listened to each Sunday’s service on her radio.
Survivors are her children, Kitty Johnson (Bob) of Murrayville, Carol Bridges of Panama City Beach, FL, Tom Bridges (Pat) of Meridian, MS, Kay Leightly (John) of Stockbridge, and Steve Bridges (Anne) of Florence, SC; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the Funeral service being at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Bullock, Rev Tom Bergman, and Rev. Dr. Truett Gannon officiating. Interment will follow on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough.
