Erich Louis Sauerbrey

Mr. Erich Louis Sauerbrey, age 88, of McDonough, GA formerly of Decatur, GA passed away November 12, 2018. Mr. Sauerbrey was born in Houston, TX the son of the late Angelika Manke Sauerbrey and Oscar Sauerbrey.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending and taking part in all of the sports and school events for his children. Mr. Sauerbrey was a past member of Decatur Church of Christ before becoming a member of Campus Church of Christ of Greater Atlanta. He served his country in the USAF during the Korean combat. He received his BA degree from Auburn University where he played football and later became a graduate coach. He was a SEC official for 27 years and after retiring became a high school official. He was a past member of Jonesboro Rotary Club and a volunteer fireman.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Janot Sauerbrey of McDonough, formerly of Decatur, GA; daughters, Gayla Gerard (Paul) of Alaska, and Greta Steber of Fort Collins, Colorado; son, Karl Sauerbrey of McDonough; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brother, Otto Sauerbrey (Nancy) of Orange Beach, Florida.

A memorial service for Mr. Sauerbrey will be on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
