Mr. Eugene “Gene” Edward Hert, age 70, of Locust Grove, GA passed away October 15, 2015. Gene was born in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Kramer Hert and Omer Andrew Hert, Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ben Hert. Gene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, fishing, golf, being outdoors, feeding the birds, and bluegrass music. Survivors are his wife, Barbara Hert of Locust Grove; son, Jerry Allen Hert (Tammy) of Jackson; daughters, Laura Hert of Locust Grove, Esther Rochester of Cloudcroft, NM, Carol Williams (Steven) of Tempe, AZ; 8 grandchildren, 2 brothers, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation and celebration for Gene will be on Sunday, October 25, 2015, 3:00 – 5:00 PM. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
