Evelyn Doss Poore, 97, passed away peacefully at Atlantic Shores Nursing Home, in Melbourne, FL on May 18, 2018. Her service will be held at Haisten Funerals and Cremations in McDonough, GA on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis N. and Ottie Lee Doss. Her husband Thomas Wesley Poore; sons, David Poore, Grady Marshall Poore, and Joseph Ellis Poore; daughter, Elaine Evelyn Poore; sisters, Clara Cabaniss (Mack),Sybil McDowell(Randolph), and Billie Cameron; and a brother, Perry Doss (Evelyn).
Survivors are her sons, Billy W. Poore (Elaine) of Locust Grove, GA, Thomas E. Poore of Roseland, FL, Robert Clyde Poore of Pt. St. John FL; sister, June D. Groh (Don); brother, Ellis Doss (Pat); grandchildren, Melisa Spears (Shawn) of N. Little Rock, AK, Tina Poore Daniels (Gary) of N. Wilkesboro, NC, Stephanie Poore Roach (Mark), Jason Poore (Valeria), Dana Hall (Steve) of McDonough, GA, Joseph Parker (Kelly) of Sumter, SC, Janey Barnes of Long Beach, CA, Christine Poore of Florida; great grandchildren, Robert Thomas Whitmire, Jason Strohl, Brittany Salamida, Clarissa Weot Tripplett, Marlayna Louis Weot, Ashley Sullivan, Taylor Hall, Abigail Parker and Caleb Parker; great great grandchildren, Karmah Marie Triplett, Keelyn Jean Triplett, Kionah Maeve Triplett, Willow Grace Weot, Gabi Poore, Bella Poore and Gunnar Poore.
Evelyn was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her love for quilting brought so much joy, friendships and travel to her life. She enjoyed sharing her love and knowledge of quilting with all that were interested in learning. She was a member of the Cotton Boll Quilt Guild and the Macon Quilt Guild for many years. Her quilts won prizes at the Florida and Georgia State and County Fairs. Her quilt “Small Town Squares” made jointly with Jane Price of Monticello; GA was chosen as the ambassador quilt and given to Vietnam during the 1996 Olympics. If you knew her, you loved her. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be missed by many.
