Floyd Melvin Palmer, age 86, of Eastpoint, Florida, formerly of Stockbridge, Georgia passed away September 15, 2023. Floyd was born October 14, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Otis Eugene and Francis Brooks Palmer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Howard Palmer; son, Floyd Melvin Palmer, Jr.; brother, Cecil Lamar Palmer; granddaughter, Melissa Kay Stephens. "Pops" loved the work he did for the Henry County Sheriff's Department Reserve for over 26 years. He volunteered every available game with the school system to ensure student safety. He also worked every race he could at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, thoroughly enjoying his time on NASCAR weekends. Floyd was a member of the Rex Masonic Lodge # 251 for 50 years. He retired from the Ford Motor Company, having sold law enforcement fleets and handling large diesel truck sales. Pops was an avid fisherman and loved time with his family over many meals. Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Howard and Mitzi Palmer; grandchildren, Brittany Amerson, Chad Palmer, Crystal Deen, Brandy Weber Erwin, Rebecca Palmer and Mary Moira Palmer; great grandchildren, Jamie Stephens, Jacob Stephens, Gavin Palmer, Braden Amerson, Briley Palmer, Caden Smith, Makaylee Durham, Grayson Weber Erwin, Journey Palmer and Brooklynn Amerson; aunt, Wincie Moore. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023 - 11:00 am in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
