Gene Noel Rutherford

Mr. Gene N. Rutherford, age 67 of McDonough, Georgia passed away September 20, 2014. He was born in the Philippines to the late Richard Thomas and Norma Louise Vollmer Rutherford. Gene served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a mechanic for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, country music, spending time with his family and grandchildren, cook outs, watching the Falcons and going out to eat. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Rutherford. Survivors include his wife, Charlene Rutherford; children, Margaret Overhuls of Lakeland, FL, Harold (Tracy) Williamson of McDonough, Christy (Travis) Wood of McDonough; grandchildren, Nikki (Ryan) Scoggins, Trever Wood, T.J. Wood, Audrey Overhuls, Emily Overhuls, Faith Wood, Lucas Williamson; great granddaughters, Camerie Henderson and Alaina Wood; sister, Pamela (John Harris) Rutherford of Blue Ridge. Contributions are asked to be made to the Veteran’s Memorial at Heritage Park, 99 Lake Dow Road, McDonough, GA 30252 in memory of Gene. Services were held privately by the family. Haisten Funeral Home of McDonough was in charge of arrangements.
