He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, an experience that shaped his sense of duty and commitment.
During his service, he learned the metalworking trade and went on to spend 39 years at General Dynamics Electric Boat, where he helped build submarines-work he took great pride in throughout his life.
He and his beloved wife Rose Ann shared 70 years of marriage, creating a strong and loving family. He is survived by his wife, their five children, 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. He cherished every opportunity to visit with his children and grandchildren.
A longtime resident of Mystic for nearly 70 years, Gerald Knotts was deeply involved in his community and his passions. He was an avid bowler and a dedicated member of the Groton Bowling Center league for over 50 years. He also loved golfing, fishing, and hunting, and was an active member of the Mystic Rod and Gun Club.
Music was another important part of his life, and he enjoyed many years-over three decades-with the Sea Notes Barbershop Chorus.
Known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand, Gerald Knotts loved to work with his hands and fix things, especially lawn mowers. He stayed active throughout his life and was always happiest when he had a project to tackle.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his steady presence, and the simple joy he found in life's everyday moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
