Grace Flowers Coombs, 85 of Hampton, GA passed away on June 27, 2025. She was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Roy Alonzo and Leola Patterson Flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Dean Coombs, daughter, Kandy Elizabeth Coombs Sims, brother Roy Marvin Flowers and sister Annie Louise Flowers. Mrs. Coombs relished her family, both from her childhood and also her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always thankful for the way she was raised by Christian parents. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in McDonough, GA where she served as Clerk, sang in the choir, and participated in various activities of the church. She enjoyed art, crafts, decorating and helping others. She retired from the State of Georgia having worked in the State Senate as Secretary to Senators, as well as Secretary to the Chairmen or Directors of four state departments. In 1996 during the Olympics, she was secretary to the two assistant directors of SOLEC, the State Olympic Law Enforcement Command. Mrs. Coombs is survived by her son Gregory Allen Coombs and wife, Dee, of Hampton, GA; grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Stacey and husband Nick, Gregory Michael Sims and wife Lindsay, and Kyle McPeters Coombs; great-grandchildren Hunter Michael Stacey, Graham Benjamin Stacey, Korie Elizabeth Stacey, Savannah Grace Sims, and Riley Fitzgerald Sims; a niece and several nephews as well as close cousins. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on July 3, 2025 at Oakland Baptist Church, McDonough, Georgia with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to Oakland Baptist Church, 1005 Hwy 81 West, McDonough, GA 30253.
