Grace Ann Wasson, 87, of McDonough, GA, passed away on July 8, 2022, after a short battle with Cancer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Theron V. Wasson of 63 years, daughter, Gail Lyle along with four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her brother Larry and Lucille Atkins as well as her two daughters and son-in-laws, Vivian and Charles Carey, Patty and Scott Jones; grandchildren and spouses; Christina Bryan, Melissa and Po McGahee, Rachael and Brad Skelton, Ashley and Devin Bowen, Barrett Lyle and Catherine Lyle. Great-Grandchildren and spouses; Collin and Jessica Marks, Christian McGahee, Grace McGahee, Jillian McGahee, Emily Marks, and Huxley Bowen.
Grace was born December 13, 1934 to Florence and John Luther Atkins. Grace spent most of her adult life raising 3 daughters and supporting her husband in his military and police career. She was also very privileged to have had 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, most of whom she was very close to. Grace enjoyed spending time with her youngest great-grandson, Huxley, as the two were inseparable. She also enjoyed talking on the phone every chance that she could to her great-grandson, Collin who was deployed on a navy ship. When she wasn’t on the phone talking to her great-grandson and her many friends, you could find her watching true-crime channels on her beloved kindle. Grace also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles but her true joy was spending time with her family.
A visitation for Grace will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA, 1745 Zack Hinton Pkwy S, McDonough, GA 30253. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 15, 2022 at Wesley Way United Methodist Church, 150 John Wesley Way McDonough, GA 30252 at 11am with internment to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Rd. McDonough, GA 30252.
