Hannah Leigh (Kennedy) Rock, age 35 of McDonough, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife to her soulmate Derek J. Rock.
Born in Atlanta, GA on November, 26, 1990, she was the daughter to her loving daddy Tommy Kennedy and her mommy and best friend Ruth (Hannan) Kennedy. Hannah was a devoted teacher, wife, friend, and, above all else, a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Hannah never met a stranger and brought light and joy into every room she entered. With her beautiful singing voice, warm smile, and kind spirit, anyone who met Hannah immediately knew they were loved and cherished.
Hannah graduated high school as valedictorian of Konos Academy, and was an honor graduate of Truett McConnell University. She was a beloved teacher and director at Summit Homeschool Community. Known as Mrs. Hannah to all of her students, she will be remembered as a passionate force, inspiring students through her love of theatre and music. Her goal was to help students build character, one stage at a time. Every day, she showed her students that they were loved and cared for while also bringing them closer to Jesus Christ through her actions, words, and ministry.
As a lifelong Christian, Hannah poured into church communities since she was young. She was no stranger to the stage, taking every opportunity to share her gifted voice and musical talent to glorify God. After college she served as a worship intern at Rockdale Baptist Church, then as worship leader at Union Grove Baptist Church, then as youth choir director, choir member, and soloist at First Baptist Church Jonesboro. Most recently a member of North Henry Baptist Church, she always brought her kindness and love of Jesus to each service.
Hannah was predeceased by her grandmother Geraldine C. Hannan of Shelbyville, TN and grandfather Dr. W. Ben Kennedy of Carrollton, GA. She is survived by her husband Derek J. Rock; her parents: Tommy Kennedy and Ruth (Hannan) Kennedy of McDonough, GA; her brother and his wife: Josh & Angela Kennedy of Williamson, GA; her grandparents: Dr. Fred M. & Diane Hannan of Acworth, GA; her grandmother Jane S.
