I just learned today that Mr. Thurmond had passed away. He hired me for my 1st job with the Henry Co. Board of Education & influenced my career from that day forward. Words can't convey what a wonderful person he was & how much he will be missed. My condolences to his family.

You can never forget a coach and especially your first coach. Coach Thurmond meant so much to me at an early age. Probably influenced my decision to attend the same college he attended. He was a real leader and developer of young people. My heart goes out to his family. He will be a special memory for me and I hope to see him again. He earned a special place in heaven.

It was our privilege and great joy to get to visit with Harvey (Little Daddy; Paw Paw) during his visit to Mary Jo and Alan’s home.

They had been to the beach and to some favorite places. Harvey was a southern gentleman in every way, with a genuine sense of humor. We can see how he was a great principal and leader in the Georgia schools. Mary Jo, Harvey and I share UGA as an alma mater. We enjoyed hearty laughter and some UGA stories together. We send deep sympathy.
