

Herman Eli (Sonny) Sellers, 87 of McDonough, GA, passed away on Saturday February 8, 2025 at Sadie G. Mays Health and Rehabilitation Center. The Georgia native was born December 17, 1937, the son of the late Marion and Annie Sellers. He was a United States Army veteran, and had an interesting career as a MARTA bus driver, an East Point, Georgia policeman, a Greyhound Bus Driver and then worked and retired from Watson motor freight as an LDL driver. He was a devoted Christian and attended Encounter Life Assembly of God until he was physically unable. He spent all of his life in the state of Georgia. He loved golf, the University of Georgia football and the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. He was an avid Nascar fan. Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Annie Sellers and his wife Vernell Collins Sellers. He is survived by his daughter Denise (and Brad) Fogle; son, Curtis (and Barbra) Sellers; four grandchildren, Michelle (and husband Scott) Swearingen, Ivan (and Renee) Sellers, Michael Sellers, Jessica Rogers; five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Aiden Swearingen, Madison and Aerith Rogers and Valentine Sellers; his sister Sarah McElhannon and brother Jimmy Sellers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Haisten Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 14, 2025 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral home on South Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough, Georgia with Rev. Jerry Stewart officiating. Pallbearers will include Michael Sellers, Ivan Sellers, Ethan Swearingen, Aiden Swearingen, Michelle Swearingen and Jessica Rogers. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, Georgia.
