Homer Milton Jinks, age 88, of Blairsville, Georgia formerly of McDonough, passed away September 13, 2021. Homer was born April 2, 1933 in McDonough, Georgia to the late Doyle Akin and Lucinda Upchurch Jinks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Ellen Rowden Jinks and by siblings, Jesse Jinks and Dorine Green. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was owner of H.M. Jinks Company and was a great wood worker and carpenter. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Men. He had started and volunteered for the church homebound ministry; was a member of the American Legion #55; ate breakfast six days a week at Chick-fil-A and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Survivors include his children, Brenda (Brian) Canady of McDonough and Milton (Linda) Jinks of Blairsville; grandchildren, Crystal (Mike) Elster, Daniel (Sarah) Canady, Anna (Robert) Moody and Ellen Jinks; great grandchildren, Catherine and Shaan; siblings, Mindy (Charles) Clotfelter of McDonough, Lucile Tomberlin of Deland,FL, Bobby (Hazel) Jinks of McDonough and Aaron Jinks of Griffin; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 - 1:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the First United Methodist Church of Union County or the Veterans Support Group in McDonough.
