Howard Lowell Austin passed on September 28, 2026, at the age of 94. Born July 31, 1932, in Ider, Alabama, to the late Howard and Georgie Austin. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Jean Austin and son Lowell Steven Austin.
Lowell is survived by his second wife Betty Blanche Austin; children Arden (Robin) Austin, Barry Austin, and John (Nancy) Austin; siblings Willie Austin, Arden (Sue) Austin, Irma (LaVerne) Gann, and Arlene (John) Cleveland; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.
Visitation will be at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253, on September 30, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Way of the Cross Baptist Church, 1640 Mt Carmel Rd, McDonough, GA 30253, on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm. The Committal Service will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 6841 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236.
