Imogene Thompson

Imogene Thompson, 84 of Alto, GA passed away on June 28, 2026. She was born in Hampton, GA to the late Rev. Marcus and Katie Lou Gilbert. She was also preceded in death by her brother Beamon Gilbert, son-in-law Jim Bass and grandson Jonathan Clough. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed traveling, quilting and tending to her house plants. She enjoyed taking care of her home, especially baking pound cakes and German chocolate cakes. She loved her grandchildren and all of the holiday celebrations. She was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church in Cornelia, GA and her home church was Henry Baptist in McDonough. Imogene is survived by her husband of 65 years, Curtis Wayne Thompson, daughters Clara Thompson (Natalie Hoshaw) of AR, Susan Bass of GA and Kristi (Dan) Hendrix of GA, son-in-law Robert (Lesa) Clough. She was Eng Eng to her six grandchildren Jessica (Nathan) Hawkins, Jennifer (Jordan) Sauer, Josh (Amber) Hendrix, Nolan Clough, Kimberleigh Hendrix and Samantha Hendrix, five great grandchildren Xavier, Brooklyn, Lexi, Karis and Aleia. She is also survived by her siblings J.T. Gilbert, Jerry Gilbert, Dianne Brown, Daniel Gilbert and Wendel Gilbert. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, GA. Funeral services will be held in our chapel at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 with Rev. Nathan Hawkins and Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, GA.
