Mr. Jack F. Swanson, age 85, of Stockbridge, Georgia. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born May 26, 1929 in Duluth, Minnesota, and passed away August 24, 2014. Preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Swanson; son, Ken Swanson; parents, Carl and Irene Swanson; and brother, Forbes Swanson. Survived by children, Janet (William, deceased) Swanson of Blaine, MN; Tom (Lynn) Swanson of Orlando, FL; Shari (Allen) York of Locust Grove, GA; and daughter-in-law Debbie (wife of Ken) Swanson; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A sales executive for Clark Oil in Duluth, MN, and VP of Marketing, Refrigerated Transport in Atlanta, GA, Jack also served as President of the Frozen Food Association 1980-82. He later co-owned and operated Swanson's Gulf/BP Oil of Henry County with his son, Ken. At age 70, Jack graduated from the Clayton County Law Enforcement Academy as a Corrections Officer—the oldest to ever complete the academy. He retired as a Henry County Bailiff at age 83. Other distinctions: Air Force veteran; President of Yaarab Shrine Temple Motor Corp (SASMC) 1988-89; 32nd degree Mason of the Free and Accepted Masons of GA, Morrow Masonic Lodge; avid golfer and Starter at several Henry County golf clubs; member and choir singer, Elam Lutheran Church; Dance Instructor, Arthur Murray. Memorial service honoring the lives of Jack and Dolores Swanson will be Saturday, August 30, 2014 – 11:00 AM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Riley will officiate.
