Mr. James Brodes Bennett, age 94 of McDonough, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020, loving husband of 73 years to the late Annie Christine Bennett. He was born in Atlanta to the late Ennis and Maude Bennett. James was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and proudly served on the USS LST 1047. He was a true American Patriot and loved his country. He enjoyed having the perfect cup of coffee and cheering on the Braves. Most importantly, James loved being with his family and would host family holiday parties. He loved cooking during his parties and was famous for his Chicken and Dumplings. James was loved by all and never met a stranger. Mr. Bennett is survived by his daughters: Diane Tinney of Stockbridge and Melissa Ogletree of McDonough; grandchildren: Frankie (Heather) Kitchens, James Workman, Christy (Paul) Johnson, Chelsea Tinney, Thomas (Pam) Bennett, Timothy (Melissa) Bennett, Tiffany Bennett, and Chrissy Ogletree; eighteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son: James Anthony "Tony" Bennett; grandchildren: Brian Workman and Madison Ogletree; and siblings: Travis Bennett and Collen Scarlet. The family will receive friends on at Haisten Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11:00AM at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park, GA.
