James Michael McCune

James Michael McCune, son of the late James Denver and Jean Jones McCune, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. Mike was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 26, 1972. He graduated from Riverdale High School in 1991, and attended Valdosta State University, where, in 1996, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Mike was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Upon graduation, he worked a short time as a field manager for Amoco Oil before settling in Henry County working as a builder and eventually owning his own company. Most of all, Mike loved the Lord, spending time every day reading scripture and writing in his journal. He loved his family and they have memories of many wonderful adventures which led them to places like South Africa, Canada, New York, California, and many places in between. Mike enjoyed Disney trips and Braves games with his daughter, and years with his son playing baseball, golfing, and going to UGA football games. He also loved spending time at the lake and boating. Mike always had a quick wit, a smile, or mischievous look and loved to make people laugh.

Mike leaves behind Jill, his wife of 25 years, their daughter Eliza and son Jack. He will be missed and remembered by many close family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 14th at 11:00 am at McDonough First United Methodist Church.
