Jan was born on July 11, 1948 in Decatur, Georgia. She graduated from Briarcliff High School and later married William Leon Hindmon in 1970. She worked as an Executive Assistant for both the legal department of Trust Company Bank and expert consultant Archie Burnham & Associates.
Jan was a member of Ellenwood Baptist Church, Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Eagles Landing First Baptist Church and had recently joined Crossroads Baptist Church in Eatonton. Jan's kind and welcoming spirit drew people to her wherever she went and she poured herself into the lives of numerous children, sharing the unconditional love of God. Jan supported others through her kind heart, supportive listening and insightful wisdom.
Jan enjoyed the last few years living life at Lake Sinclair with her husband Leon, bird watching and spending time with her three favorite people, her grandchildren Liam, Nora and Jaxon.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Christine and Billy Joe Mitchell, her husband of 52 years William Leon Hindmon and her sister Karen Milton. She is survived by her two children Alison Hindmon, James Eric Hindmon (Andrea), her brother David Mitchell (Candy), her three grandchildren, Liam, Eleanora and Jaxon, and other aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 26th, beginning with visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 ,p.m. and services will begin at 5:00 p.m.
