I’m so sorry to hear about Mr Goodson. May the Lord comfort your hearts.

It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of Jerry Goodson. We have enjoyed the company and friendship of Ann, Jerry, and our cousins for many years. We regret that we could not have been with you all at Jerry's graveside.

Jerry and I were briefly business partners and spent many years discussing business and politics. I will miss our friendly banter at the Bledsoe Reunion.

Our condolences go out to the family, Lynn, Karen, Mike, Jack, and Joey. We are especially thinking of Katie and Patricia whose careers we have followed closely. May you two continue to the success that your grandfather was looking forward to.

My earliest childhood memory goes back almost three-quarters of a century.  At three years old, I was an only child, living with my parents in a small town about 30 minutes from Ft Bragg.  One day, two young uniformed soldiers came to visit.  “Jerry” was tall and thin.  He told me that he jumped out of airplanes and that he was my big brother.  I was in absolute awe of this new person in my life.   His buddy brought a guitar and sang in our living room, while my new brother let me sit in his lap.  Jerry smiled at me, talked to ME, and made me believe that I was important too.   Your father, your Papa, was the first HERO of my life and modeled for me what a hero should be: brave, gracious, and a friend who smiles and talks even to small children.  Every time I have been fortunate to be with Jerry and Ann over the years, he has been welcoming and gracious.  As you reflect on his long and consequential life, it is my hope that for you too, your father and Papa represents what a hero should be.

Your testimony in this morning’s service bore witness to the way Jerry lived his life, supported his community, and loved his family.  I know from experience that it is not easy to speak at a parent’s funeral.  You did it with grace.  He would be proud.

Blessings to each of you in these days of grieving and transition.  It is important work.  Your father and Papa loved you over a long time, and has prepared you well.

Dear Joey, Lowette, and family, May God’s love and peace surround you during this difficult time. Our prayers are with you, and we trust in God’s plan to bring comfort and hope.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

What a great man Mr. Jerry was.
When I worked at Planters in the 90s I would sneak over and visit with him in the trailer next door.  I loved talking with him.  Mr Jerry and Ms Ann were two of the sweetest people I ever got to be around.  I have been out of the loop for a long time and didnt know Ann was also gone.   Both of them will be strongly missed.

Jerry, my sister, Lewette's Father-in-law, was a wonderful man, who succeeded in leaving the legacy of loving, good and God-fearing children. Although I never had the privilege of meeting him in person, Jerry and his loving wife, Ann, made an impact upon my life by the loving kindnesses and warmth that they lived out, and which I witnessed from afar. Salt of the earth people, upon whom the foundation of good communities are built. I am grateful for Jerry having been a gift on this earth, from God, and I will always remember him as such. My deepest sympathy go to his children, grand children and great grandchildren, friends and extended family. May God comfort you with beautiful memories of Jerry for all times.
