Jo Anna Freeman

Mrs. Jo Anna Freeman, age 75, of McDonough, GA passed away December 23, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born to the late Jean and Richard Lee on July 17, 1947 at Crawford Long Hospital. Jo Anna grew up in East Point and graduated from Russell High School in East Point GA. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her late husband, Kelly Ralston.

Jo Anna married John Freeman in 1990 and they resided in McDonough, GA. She is survived by her spouse and six children: Billy Ralston, Cindy (Chris) Hamilton; Sonja (Robbie) Hegwood and J.C.(Krista) Freeman, Jr., Lexy Swanson and Victoria (Jamie) Long. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren that love their Nana very much! Jo Anna is also survived by her sister, Margie (Mickie) Whitworth and her brother Richard (Marilyn) Lee, Jr and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jo Anna retired from BellSouth Telecommunications after nearly 40 years of service. She was an amazing and devoted mother and Nana to her family and many friends that she counted as family! She passed along to her children and grandchildren a love for music, reading, and a strong faith. As an active part of Salem Baptist Church and their prayer shawl ministry, she enjoyed crocheting blankets to donate to various charities. She was a woman of great empathy and spent her life caring for the needs of others. She would likely ask you to call her Nana after your initial introduction and as far as she was concerned, she really became your Nana! In mid-December she developed an unexpected brain aneurysm from which recovery was not possible. She will be dearly missed; however, she would encourage us all to live in the light of her life instead of the shadow of her death.

A visitation and memorial ceremony will be held on January 14, 2023 at Haisten Funerals and Cremation located at 745 S Zack Hinton Pkwy, McDonough, GA 30253. Visitation will be at noon and the celebration of life will be at 1:00 pm. A meal will be provided for family after the services at Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, GA.
