She was born on November 17, 1936 in Dublin, Ga to the late Wilburn and Evie Jones Mimbs. In addition to her parents, JoAnn was greeted in Heaven by her husband George Spence and her sons Eddie Rowland and Davd Rowland.
JoAnn lived a full life centered around family, hard work and caring for others. She was known for her strong spirit, warm heart and love of cooking, which she shared generously with those around her.
JoAnn worked as a caterer for many years and found great joy in preparing meals for others. Cooking was not just her profession but one of the many ways she showed love to family, friends and her community.
She is survived by her daughters Peggy (Art) Johnsa and Cathy Youngblood, her sons George Spence Jr. and Bradley Gentle, her grandchildren Joey (Ashley) Youngblood, Brent (Madison) Johnsa, Brian (Melissa) Johnsa, Jill (Mitchael) Maner, Jacob Rowland and Brandon Rowland as well as seven great grandchildren. Her memory also lives on through her Glen Haven Baptist Church family.
"Ms. Jo" will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held at Haisten Funerals & Cremations, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA 30253, on April 27, 2026, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Park, 640 McGarity Rd, McDonough, GA 30252, on April 27, 2026.
