On Tuesday, January 20, 2016 God chose to call one of His faithful and loyal servant's home, and now he rests in His arms. John Edward Huggins, beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend too many was born on February 10, 1945 to the late Roy and Elizabeth Huggins in Whitfield County, GA. He recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his cherished wife Helen at Walt Disney World. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Tony Neal, Jr. of Dalton, GA; daughters Katrina Redman and her husband Wes of Lynchburg, VA, and Martha Huggins of Ashford, AL; grandsons Chadley Huggins of Chatsworth, GA, Chris Espanet of Bethel Springs, TN, David Espanet of Ashford, AL, and Lane Redman and his wife Crystal of Lynchburg, VA; granddaughters Callie Molock and her husband Will of Southaven, MS, Krystal Espanet of Cold Water, MS, and Kari Redman of Norfolk, VA; and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Doyle Huggins of Atlanta, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Earl, Bob, and Ernest Huggins; and Sisters Mable McEntire, Ruth Pippin, and Bonnie Jean Tate; and son Chris Huggins. He was a devoted alumni of Dalton High School class of 1963. Served honorably in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He retired from both the Clorox Company and Air Tran airlines. He was an active member at Pinecrest Baptist Church in McDonough, GA serving on the CARE Team, ushering, and participated in the The Well Sunday School Class and the Connection Point Class. Throughout his life he was always selflessly giving of his time to others, had a smile and kind word to everyone he met. He will be remembered for his devotion to serving his community as a Henry County poll manager, supporting first responders in many ways including going through the Henry County citizen fire and police academy programs. He loved High School football, Georgia Tech sports teams, Liberty University Flames, and the Atlanta Braves. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, GA, by the Rev. John Anderson and Rev. Tom Miller. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service. A second service will be held at Ponders Funeral Home in Dalton, GA at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service. Interment will follow at Colonial Hills Cemetery.
