Mr. John Warren Tilghman, Jr., age 83 of McDonough, Georgia passed away May 29, 2020. He was born in Fruitland, Maryland to the late John Warren Tilghman, Sr. and Doris Elizabeth Atkinson Tilghman. John was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Evelyn Henley Tilghman and by a brother, Bud Tilghman. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy and retired from Unisys as a Computer Technician. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Morrow and was a Mason and a Shriner. John was a Pastor for many years, spreading the Word of God. He had the gift of never meeting a stranger and enjoyed a good conversation. John had been a substitute teacher, volleyball referee and umpired rec ball and high school ball. He loved to watch sports on TV, eating ice cream, locating treasures at yard and estate sales and performing the art of clowning. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Beth (Anthony) Corbin of McDonough; grandchildren, Zachary (Lindsey) Etheridge of Social Circle, Katie (John Plageman) Etheridge of Fallon, NV, Austin (Rachel) Corbin, Zach Corbin and Selena Corbin; brother, Tommy Tilghman of Florida; brothers in law and sisters in law, Marthe (Sammy) Efurd of Marianna, FL, Lu (Harold) Connerley of Monroe, Betty Ann Vollenweider of Dallas and Glenda Henley of Campbellton, FL; numerous nieces and nephews that he deeply loved. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2020 - 1:00 PM in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro at 2:30 PM. Friends may visit the family Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
