A proud graduate of Forest Park High School, Kerry retired from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution after 41 years of dedicated service, where he served as Composing Room General Manager. He was admired for his loyalty, strong work ethic, and steady leadership. Kerry was the kind of man everyone counted on—humble, dependable, and true to his word.
For 52 years, Kerry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nancy, affectionately known as “Momma NeeNee.” He loved her more than anything in this world, and throughout his illness, there was no one he found greater comfort in than her sweet, loving care. Their marriage was a true testament to faith, love, and devotion. Kerry and Nancy were deeply in love and committed to their shared faith in Jesus Christ, standing side by side through every joy and every challenge life brought their way. Together they built a beautiful life grounded in love and family, and their bond remained unshakable through every season.
Kerry’s passion for the outdoors was unmatched. He loved to fish, hunt, metal detect, and search for arrowheads. He also enjoyed playing racquetball and golf and had a lifelong love of archery, serving as President of the Tomo-Chi-Chi Archery Club. An antique hunter at heart, Kerry had a soft spot for Victrola record players, old radios, and anything with a story to tell. He took great pride in bringing forgotten pieces back to life and could never resist a good bargain or an estate sale that looked too promising to pass up.
More than anything, Kerry loved his family. He shared a special bond with each of his three children: archery adventures with his oldest son Terry, cheering on Georgia Tech with his son Juston, and “treasure hunting” or antique-hopping with his daughter Dallas. His greatest joy was simply being a husband, dad, and “Poppy,” creating memories that will last a lifetime. Kerry also served faithfully as a Deacon at Oak Hill Church, where his steady faith and servant’s heart touched many lives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Jennings Bryan; his mother, Florence Dallas Bryan; and his brother, Leon Bryan.
Kerry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (“Momma NeeNee”); his children, Terry (Maggie) Bryan, Juston Bryan, and Dallas (Bobby) Johnston; grandchildren Triston (Hannah) Bryan, Kaite-Hart Hedden, and Josie Hedden; and great-granddaughter Raeliegh. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Grant; Damian and Victoria Bryan and their children, Alex, Sophie, and Sawyer, from his blended family circle; and his dear friend Randy Hardin, who shared decades of friendship and laughter. He leaves behind two beloved nieces, one nephew, many cherished friends, and his constant companion, “Mr. Sunshine.”
A lifelong Georgia Tech fan, Kerry cheered faithfully for the Yellow Jackets through every season. To honor his memory, the family asks that everyone wear Georgia Tech colors or gear to the funeral, because nothing would make him prouder than a sea of gold and blue on the day we celebrate his life.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Church, 100 Lakeside Rd, Williamson, GA 30292, with interment following at Fincher Memorial Cemetery, 1101 GA-109, Zebulon, GA 30295.
