Lynn D. Freedman, age 66, of Henry County, GA, passed away from lengthy illness and cardiac arrest and into the arms of The Lord, January 2, 2016, at Piedmont Henry Hospital. She was born in Big Rapids, MI, the daughter of Otto and Dorothy (Mackie) Quack. She graduated from Soo High School with high academic achievement, later graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. Lynn took a successful career path as a theatric actor and Theater Production Director, engaged in leading roles in Macbeth and Antigone at Lake Superior State University, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. From 2000-2004, she oversaw production and direction of the yearly Miss Henry County Georgia scholarship pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Georgia and Miss America Pageants. Later, she helped establish and directed the University of Georgia’s Miss Sorority Row program, the largest theatrical production in the university’s history, which garnered $10,000 annually in charitable contributions for the American Red Cross. An avid lover of pets and always serving others, Lynn was a Pet Therapy trainer of the family Golden Retriever, Yoda, for volunteer service at Henry County’s Laurel Park Rehabilitation Center. Lynn also served as a Senior Director in the Lupus Foundation of America and was actively engaged in service at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Stockbridge, Georgia. Lynn had a passion for cooking and her kitchen and dining room table were always the family gathering places for Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and a multitude of friendship get-togethers. She was the ultimate military wife raising the boys, caring for the home and all its chores and handling a multitude of responsibilities while her husband was called away to military duty many times during their 26-year Army career. She was preceded in death by her father Otto and younger brother Dennis Quack, and is survived by her husband Gary Freedman, sons Christopher (Atlanta, Georgia) and David (West LaFayette, Indiana), mother Dorothy Quack (Sault, Michigan), and sisters Diane Putman (Canton, Illinois) and Eileen Vert (Sault, Michigan), 14 grandchildren, and her loyal Golden Retriever companion Sherlock. Funeral visitation will occur on Jan. 6 from 6:00-8:00PM at Haisten Funeral Home (1745 Zack Hinton Parkway, McDonough, GA). Funeral service will occur on Jan. 7 at 11:00AM (Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3250 Mt. Zion Road, Stockbridge, GA), and burial will occur at 1:30PM (Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA). In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Stockbridge.
