Mandy Michelle Lake

Mandy Simpson Lake, age 54 of Hampton, Georgia went to be with her Lord August 10, 2026. She was born July 25, 1972, in East Point, Georgia to Marty and Patricia Noles Simpson. The doctor stated, “with this heartbeat, this has to be a baby boy!” Well, to their surprise, she started her life tough as nails and remained a real trooper until she sprinted through the Gates of Heaven. After accepting Jesus as her personal Savior, she would refer to herself as “God’s Girl”, often signing cards or Facebook posts in this manner. She believed this with all of her heart and she loved with all of her being; even reaching out to strangers to let them know that God loves them and you matter and are enough – and surprisingly they always responded with a hug, tears and amazement that this sweet little lady cared about them. She certainly had a way with people.

At age 16, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, which changed her life forever. She always persevered with a positive attitude and she never complained, even when the pain would be unbearable. Mandy was a graduate of Jonesboro High School, Class of 1991 and through health occupation class, took a job at the Industrial Clinic in Hapeville. She enjoyed the challenges of this job and made many life-long friends working there. She never allowed the sickness to dictate to her when she could work, even hiding her purple “Barney” scrubs in her overnight bag so when she was released from the hospital, she could go straight to work. That’s dedication you cannot find today. She also was a Medical Assistant at Eagles Landing Family Practice until her decision to stay home and pour all she had into Katie and homeschooled her for seven years.

Mandy was preceded in death by her sister, Wendy Simpson Perry and by her great-nephew, Bryson Tucker Perry. She was also preceded in death by our 22-year-old shih tzu, Princess. Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Shaun Lake; daughter, Katie Lake; her daily companion, Winnie Joy; parents, Marty and Patricia Simpson; sister, Penny (Jeff) Williams; brother, Shane Simpson; nieces and nephews, Destiny (Jonathan) Perry, Joshua Williams, Dylan (Taylor) Perry, Jacob Williams, Brad (Ashley) Lake, Kelly (Corey) Nicholson, Scottie (Stephanie) Lake, Marlana Lake, and Kim Lake; great nieces and nephews, Bentley, Lainey, Presley, Brody, Brigsley, Waylon, Kamden, Kenzie, Kobe, Cora, Kenna and Evy; God-daughter, Amanda Boone; aunts, (God-Mother) Joyce Simpson, Rita Simpson, Eleanor Simpson, Dee Curtis Purcell and Wanda Noles; numerous special cousins, extended family and extraordinary friends.

Mandy wanted to send a special thank you to Dr. Galambos, Dr. Jonas and Dr. Page for their expert care given to her over the years. Also, Dr. G’s nurses, Lavonna and Miranda and the infusion team nurses, Carla, Journey and Mallory all of whom meant so much to her.

A visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026 – 11:00 am in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
