She was preceded in death by her sister, Maryanne Matthews. Melinda is survived by her two daughters, Chevinie (Kipp) Echols and Felicia (Paul) Mitchell; her loving companion, Bob Johnson; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Echols, Aiden Echols, Jackson Mitchell, and Preston Mitchell; great granddaughters, Ellie and Lily Echols; brother, John Morgan; as well as many wonderful past and present co-workers and friends.
Melinda was smart, strong and hard-working, and dedicated to helping her patients and customers no matter where she worked. There were very few things she could not do if she put her mind to it. She served her community during her time as a shoe cobbler and as store managers at Christian’s Pharmacy and most recently Mobility Warehouse.
She loved ice cream, Domino’s thin crust pizza, and Captain D’s. She really loved a warm blanket! Melinda loved all things girly: TJ Maxx, makeup, jewelry, and trips to the nail salon. Melinda gave her girls a spoiled rotten childhood always helping with their number finds for homework, taking them all over the place, and showing them how to get their makeup just perfect.
The Lord blessed her with a companion in her last years. Bob and Melinda enjoyed many delicious meals, playing cards, watching the birds and wildlife, enjoying the harvest of his garden, and holding hands.
The family would like to thank Family Hospice nurses, Dixie and Duane, for their tender care and guidance as well as Dr. Vipin Lohiya for the compassion and kindness he showed Melinda.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2026 - 1:00 pm in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit the family Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
She will be buried with her mother and sister at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
