Mildred Jean Rutledge passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Born in Fairmont, Ga in 1934 to the late Robert and Pearl Mewborn, Jean grew up with a love for music, especially gospel music. Her love of singing would even lead her to join the gospel group "The Newfield Pioneers". Jean also loved gardening and flowers as well as writing poetry and reading her Bible. Jean's "career" could best be described as caregiver. Her love for her family was exceeded only by the love she held for her Savior.
Jean was welcomed into Heaven by her husband Willie Frank Rutledge and son Randy "Rut" Rutledge. She is survived by her son Larry (Sue) Rutledge and daughters Linda (Mark) Duke and Diann (Lewis) Clemmons. Her Legacy also lives on in her 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews and 2 brothers-in-law James (Billie Faye) Rutledge and Waymon Rutledge.
Jean was a member of McDonough First Assembly of God and her funeral service will be held there on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Her family will receive friends at the church before the service from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm
