Mrs. Nina Farr Chafin, age 92 of McDonough, Georgia passed away December 9, 2018. She was born in Birmingham, AL to the late Roy Alton and Lorene Nelson Farr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Clinton Chafin and a sister, Gloria Munoz. She received her undergraduate degree from Howard University and Master’s Degree from Georgia State University. Mrs. Chafin retired after over 20 years of teaching, mainly at Lithonia High School. After retiring, she taught reading to adults and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Henry Medical Center. She was a member of Kelley Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and enjoyed helping and caring for others to make their lives better. She loved to make quilts and give them as gifts for their recipients to enjoy. She loved travel and music. Survivors include her daughters, Alice (Jarvis) Aldridge of Kelleytown and Margaret Williams of Madison; grandchildren, Clint (Lynda) Aldridge of Smyrna, Jennifer (Cory) Richards of Forsyth and Andrea (Chris) Wilson of Madison; great grandchildren, Maya Wilson, Hannah Horowitz, Connor Richards, Chace Richards and Troy Aldridge; sister, Judy Lane of Huntsville, AL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2018 – 2:00 PM at Kelley Presbyterian Church. Rev. Millicent Thomson will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit the family Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Kelley Presbyterian Church in memory of Mrs. Chafin.
