The lovely Ms. Peggie Lee Eleby was born in Dekalb, Mississippi on January 2, 1949, to Curtis and Eunice Eleby. Peggie was the second daughter of three sisters and five brothers. Peggie loved her Southern roots. She was a true country girl with a passion for downhome cooking, and family gatherings filled with laughter and love.
Peggie attended Whisenton High School in Dekalb, Mississippi. As a student, Peggie played basketball and enjoyed being a majorette. In 1968, Peggie graduated from high school. Not long after, Peggie decided to leave home and move to the Mid-West to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to begin a new chapter in life. In Milwaukee, Peggie gave birth to her firstborn Daphne Eleby, and second oldest daughter, Donna Eleby.
Despite the medical challenges presented with Donna at birth, Peggie was determined to find the best care possible for her second born daughter. One day, while reading, Peggie came across an article about the medical advancements at U.C.L.A. Medical Center, located in Southern California. Peggie made the decision to move to Inglewood, California in 1977 to find the best medical care possible for her daughter. While in California, Peggie gave birth to daughters Danielle Stowers, Denise Stowers, and Demetia Stowers. Peggie worked full-time at Northrop Grumman for many years in addition to working as a hairstylist from her home. Peggie was a hardworking woman. She was willing to wear as many hats as possible to ensure her daughters were afforded opportunities in life she did not have growing up.
Peggie was a dedicated member of Los Angeles Grace Church of the Nazarene. The church provided a supportive community and purpose that fostered a nurturing environment where she could instill Christian values and find emotional strength for herself and for her children. Peggie loved singing in the choir, serving on the usher board and taking part in church activities. In 2005, Peggie traveled to the Holy City of Israel. Peggie was amazed by all of the sites from the Bible and grew closer in her walk with Christ from the experience.
After retiring from Northrop Grumman, Peggie worked for Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital. Later, she worked for Woodcrest Nazarene Christian School until retiring from the workforce completely. In 2008, Peggie moved to Covington, Georgia to return to her southern roots and enjoy life as a retiree. She became a member of Voices of Faith Church in Conyers, Georgia. Throughout her life, Peggie remained a giving and helpful person. She put her family first and was always willing to help family and friends during times of need.
