Upon retirement, Pete resided in Palm Bay, Florida for almost 20 years before moving to Covington, Georgia in September of 2019. He was born in Portland, Maine February 24, 1938. He lived in Mattapoisett, MA. and also Simsbury, CT. He graduated from Simsbury High in CT.He served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and was stationed in Toul Rosieres Air Base in France. He was employed as a computer analyst and technician for the United Technologies Aircraft Engine Manufacturer, Pratt and Whitney, in Connecticut for 30 years. During his career, he was also an avid member and instructor in numerous Deep Sea/Scuba Diving and Snow Ski Organizations in many countries over the world; one of which was the Gillman Club and Diving of Greater Hartford CT. YMCA which was considered among the nation's best. Pete lived and enjoyed life to the fullest, and he loved inspirational and religious music. He had a vibrant unconditional love for all people. He loved to travel and develop new friendships. He was a very faithful friend to many, and had a deep respect and love for his family and friends. He was faithful in giving of his time and financial help to people in need. He always attended church wherever he lived until he became disabled.He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Donald K. Gerry and Jenny E. Crampton Gerry; and two brothers, Donald K. Gerry, Jr. and Edward E. Gerry. He leaves behind his brother and sister in law, William (Billy) and Linda Kaye Gerry of Covington, GA; brother and sister, Thomas Cannon and Elaine Gerry of Simsbury CT; sister in law, Brenda Gerry of Clearwater FL and niece, Donna Gerry of Dunedin, FL; niece and nephew, Lisa M. Thomason and John C. Gerry of McDonough and Covington, GA; great nephew, Michael Thomason of McDonough, GA and great nephew and niece, Trevor and Tiffany Cunard from Covington, GA. He leaves many dear and loyal friends as well. Services will be in Covington, GA at High Point Baptist Church on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Interment at Lawnwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Lung Association.
