Philip Michael Edwards, Sr.

Mr. Philip Michael Edwards, Sr., 60 of McDonough passed away March 31, 2021. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on September 19, 1960 to Philip and Karen Greene. Philip was a 3rd class machinist mate in the U.S. Navy, serving for six years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, Atlanta Braves baseball and working on cars. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1978, was a boy scout leader and coached baseball. He was a devoted hard-working man. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Edwards , children, Candace (Brett) Freston of Dacula, Dawn Edwards of Stockbridge and Philip Edwards, Jr. of McDonough. Siblings, Paula Greene (Jerry) Price of Deland, Florida, Kelly Edwards (Mike) McClain of Crystal River, Florida, two grandchildren, Chloe West and Carter Freston, brother-in-law, Scott Itson, sister-in-law, Belinda Shelnutt and mother-in-law, Lois Itson of McDonough, Georgia. Fur babies, Mark and Oreo.

I worked with Skip at Napa in Jackson for 5years. We had a great friendship and several long conversations about alot. He will be missed. He loved his family like I love mine. God Speed Skip you beat me there.

I had the pleasure of serving with "Skip" in the Navy. We worked together for about 3 years on-board the USS Cincinnati. He was a good shipmate and friend. Fair winds and following seas, my dear friend! My sincere condolences, and may God give peace and comfort to his family and friends.
