Reginald L. Hunt

Mr. Reginald L. Hunt, age 79 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 13, 2020. He was born in Porterdale, Georgia to the late Mark Houston Hunt, Jr. and Willie Pearl Smith Hunt. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Jason Hunt; son in law, Matt O'Quinn; sister, Willene Hunt Davis. Reggie graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1959 and received a BBA degree from Georgia State University, Class of 1964. Upon graduation from college, he joined the United States Army and was assigned to the 520th Medical Company in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He served in various capacities including Platoon Leader and Adjutant and Company Commander. Following active duty, he joined the Army Reserves attached to the 3297th USA Hospital in Chamblee, Georgia, where he served as Chief of Supply and Services, Adjutant and Chief of Personnel Division and retired as Lieutenant Colonel with 28 years of active and reserve service. He then retired after 34 years as the Personnel Director from the State Department of Transportation. Reggie was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, where he serves as Finance Chairman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and was on the Cemetery Committee. He enjoyed restoring classic cars including his 1955 and 1957 Chevrolet's. He loved Georgia Tech football, watching Westerns and trips to the condo on the beach. Survivors include his wife, Dianna "DeeDee" Hunt; son, Kyle (Jenny) Hunt of Atlanta; daughter, Lauren Hunt O'Quinn of McDonough; grandchildren, Emersyn H. Hunt, Bodhi Lynn Hunt and Ras A. Hunt; brother in law, Mark (Helen) Donnelly of Young Harris; several nieces, nephews, cousins and church family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 - 11:00 am in the Haisten Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Contributions are asked to be made to the Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Mr. Hunt.

I graduated from Roosevelt in 1961. I was married to Ronnie Wellborn for 52 years before his passing in 2016. I saw Reggie at class of 1959 reunions and remember him fondly. Jehovah-shalom, the Lord is peace.

We know the many memories you must have over the years just as we have memories that will be with us always. He was a good man and I know he loved all his family.
