Mayor Robert S. Price

Mayor Robert S. Price, age 79, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away March 15, 2024 from complications of a sudden illness. He was born April 16, 1944 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Clarence Stilwell and Louise Scarbrough Price. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Brannan. Robert faithfully served in the National Guard, was retired from the telephone company and loved farming and raising cattle. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a Mason for 59 years. Mayor Price served as a City Councilman from 2007 until 2011 and was first elected Mayor in 2012. He was recently re-elected and ran unopposed each term he served which is a testament of the government he ran with the City Council and was widely supported by the citizen's of Locust Grove. Robert loved Locust Grove and all of its citizens and was always willing to help anyone that was in need. Robert married the love of his life, Barbara Allison Price on February 9, 1972. Along with Barbara, Robert is survived by his son, Weyman Lee Price and four sisters, Martha Adams, Joan Perdue, Frances White and Edna (Bob) Woeste and a sister in law, Betty Cantrell Skinner; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Haisten Funeral Home, 1745 Zack Hinton Parkway South, McDonough, GA 30253. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 - 2:00 pm at the former First Baptist Church of Locust Grove, (Locust Grove Recreation Center)10 Cleveland Street, Locust Grove, GA 30248. Rev. Kenny Heath and Rev. Joey Seabolt will officiate. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
