Russell Kenneth Smith, Sr.

Mr. Russell Kenneth Smith, Sr., 83 of Locust Grove passed away January 20, 2021. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 29, 1937 to Ira and Mary Lou Smith. Russell was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and he was employed with Consolidated Freightways for 20 years. He enjoyed working on cars, playing chess and playing golf. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Smith, children, Russell Smith, Jr. (April) of Gainesville, Georgia, Michelle (Chris) Cain of Panama City, Florida and Robert I. Smith, Sr. of Jonesboro, Georgia. Seven grandchildren, Jessica, Micah, Ryan, Robert, Jr. Alicia, Jeremiah and Charles. Fourteen great grandchildren, many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at 12:00pm on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Heritage Baptist Church in Locust Grove. Brother Terrell Hopkins will officiate the funeral service at 1:00pm at the church. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge.
