Shirley Jean Petersen Moore was born October 10, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa to Lester and Bernadine Petersen. She passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on July 13, 2019 with her daughters and son-in-law by her side. Shirley was a 1951 graduate of Bass High School in Atlanta where she excelled in music and played the flute in the band. Shirley loved spending special time with her daughter and best friend, Jan, shopping and enjoying each other’s company. She delighted in picking out special gifts for her three great granddaughters and sending them packages. You could always spot Shirley cruising around town in her yellow Chevy Spark. Shirley enjoyed worshiping at Glen Haven Baptist Church and was an active member of the Crusaders Bible Study Group. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother Don Petersen. She is survived by her brother, David Petersen; daughter Robin (David) Ephraim, Jan (Earl) Ellington-Reed; Grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Ephraim and Jordan Ephraim; Great Granddaughters Eve, Blair and Abby. Whether you affectionately called her Mom, Little Grandma or Miss Shirley, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Georgia.
