

Virginia Lou Pruitt passed away peacefully at the age of 92 surrounded by family and friends on 1/4/2026. She was born in Tompkinsville, Ky, then she moved to Nashville, TN where she attended Business College. She then moved to Atlanta, GA where she raised her family and has resided for the last 65 years.
Known for her sweet smile, passion for helping others, and her love for gardening, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Virginia’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
She is survived by her sisters Betty Tyler, Linda(Dennis) Holcombe, and Peggy(Jimmy) Russell, her sister-in-law Loretta Bybee, her children Eddie(Lisa) Pruitt and Cindy(Steve) Prosser, her grandchildren Kaitlyn Pruitt(Roman Rogatko), Westin Pruitt, Christina Prosser, Sarah Hanson(Eli), Daniel Prosser, and John Michael Prosser, her great-grandchildren Bella Rogatko, Vienna Rogatko, Oliver Hanson, and Finley Hanson, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Oscar G Bybee, Ruby Doyle Bybee, her husband Paul McGinty, her brothers Edsel Bybee, Bobby Bybee, her sister Ann Poynter, and her beloved son Lenny Pruitt.
We will have a celebration of life ceremony at Southern Crescent Baptist Church in McDonough, February 22,2026. Visitation at 2pm with the service to follow at 3pm. There will also be a graveside service at Glasgow Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, Ky, Sunday, May 25, 2026 where her ashes will be laid to rest next to her son.
In lieu of flowers the family requests you make donations to her church, Southern Crescent Baptist Church, or her to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Boys Town, or Wounded Warrior Project.
