Vivian Joyce Jackson, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, transitioned peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 64, in McDonough, Georgia. Born on May 4, 1961, in Brooklyn, New York, she was a proud lifelong New Yorker who later found peace and rest in the quiet embrace of the Georgia countryside.
Vivian’s early years were rooted in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, where she attended P.S. 138 and Lefferts Junior High School. She later moved to East New York, Brooklyn, where she completed her education at Thomas Jefferson Annex High School. She began her professional journey in the 1980s as a clerk at Security Pacific Bank in Lower Manhattan, but her true calling came when she joined the New York City Department of Education, dedicating 32 years of service as a School Aide at P.S. 260. She was known not just for her work, but for the love, wisdom, and care she poured into the lives of her students and coworkers.
In her later years, Vivian relocated to Georgia to live with her daughter, embracing a more peaceful, country life surrounded by love and serenity.
Vivian was a woman of deep faith and great heart. She was a longtime member of The Church of the Open Door in Brooklyn before becoming a cherished Mother of the Church at The Divine Church, where she was admired and deeply loved. She found joy in music, needlepoint, and cooking, all of which she lovingly shared with those around her.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Nyree Jackson; her loving brothers, Henry Jackson, Robert Jackson, and Jerald Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.
Vivian is preceded in death by her beloved parents, George H. Jackson and Sallie Mae Williams-Jackson, and her cherished sister, Roslind G. Jackson.
A Memorial Weekend Celebration of Life will be held on August 8th, 9th, and 10th in McDonough, Georgia, where loved ones will gather to honor and celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of Vivian Joyce Jackson.
Her presence was a blessing—graceful, nurturing, and strong. Her spirit lives on in every heart she touched.
