William Thomas “Bill” Ellis, Jr., 69, passed away on November 19, 2025. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bill spent his later years in Locust Grove, Georgia, where he built a life centered on family, craftsmanship, and the simple joys he loved most.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas “Bill” Ellis, Sr. and Sarah Frances Ellis, as well as his siblings Sarah Ann Ellis, Millard Clyde “Buddy” Ellis, and Kathy Ellis. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 50 years, Donna Gail Ellis; his sons, Kevin Thomas Ellis (Lauren Ellis) and Eric William Ellis (Tyler Edwards); his cherished grandchildren, Landon Thomas Ellis and Ethan Oliver Ellis—who lovingly knew him as “Pop Bill”; and his siblings Brenda Taylor, Mary Worley, and Carl Ellis.
A dedicated and skilled professional, Bill retired as a Rail Car Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Instructor with MARTA. Outside of his career, he was an experienced carpenter and welder, always ready to build, repair, or create something with his hands. He was also an avid RC plane pilot and proud member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, finding joy and camaraderie in the hobby he loved.
Bill truly loved fishing, spending time on the water, and making memories with his family—especially days out on the boat surrounded by those he cherished most. His presence, his humor, his steady nature, and his deep love for his family will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 12:00 PM at Fox Hall Clubhouse in Senoia, Georgia.
