William Dale Hindman Sr. passed on March 25, 2026, at the age of 90. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Tawana and his sister Dorothy Walker. He is survived by his brother, David Hindman (Bobbie), his sons, Mark Hindman (Lydia) and Dale Hindman, his grandchildren; Caleb (Elizabeth), Preston (Samantha), Stephen (Sommer), Trevor (Amli), Daniel (Makayla), and FaithAnn; eight great grandchildren and his wife, Jenny Epps.
Bill graduated from Cooper Rural High School in 1954 and went on to Hardin Simmons University where he met and married Tawana Fern Hindman on August 29, 1959. He was in Army ROTC in college and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. After college, he went on to get his Master of Divinity, and his Doctorate of Ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Later, while pastoring Ridglea West Baptist Church in Fort Worth, he also taught at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bill pastored several churches in his ministry; Spade TX, Kemp TX, Farmersville TX, Howe TX, Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock TX for 13 years, and Ridglea West Baptist Church in Fort Worth TX for 17 years, where he retired at the age of 62. He also pastored a small church in Abilene TX while he was at Hardin Simmons University.
Bill often talked of the many changes he had seen in his lifetime; from growing up on a cotton farm in West Texas in a single pane wooden farmhouse, through a World War, to space exploration. He was many things to many people over the years. He enjoyed carpentry, boating, fishing, hunting, tennis, and playing music on his guitar or harmonica. Later in life, he thoroughly enjoyed his horses and cattle, and life on a ranch in Hamilton, TX. He was a penultimate family man who was always available for his sons and their families; and enjoyed loving on his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He touched many, many lives through his preaching, his many mission trips, the way he cared for his congregations, and through his generosity to faithfully support his local church, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas Baptists, Samaritan's Purse, and many other Christian organizations.
During his retirement years, he moved to Georgia to be closer to his boy's families. He remarried to Virginia "Jenny" Epps the last three years of his life. He had recently moved into an assisted living facility at 90 years of age and passed away soon after. Definitely a life well-lived. He has already been greeted by the LORD by the timeless words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!!"
A Graveside Service will be held at Jenkinsburg City Cemetery, 123 N Oak St, Jenkinsburg, GA 30234, US, on April 4, 2026, at 11:00 am.
