Don was born in Independance, Mo in 1933. When Don was in high school, then President Harry Truman would come home to Independance to visit and spend time walking around town. Don would go to the school window and yell "Hey Harry!" to which the President would graciously respond with a smile and a wave.
Don served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a crypto analyst at Fort Meade, MD. and later retired as a member of the Teamsters Union.
Don is survived by the love of his life, Ann (who he affectionately calls Mi-Mi), his son Paul Latcham, daughters Kathleen (Chuck) Carney, Tamara (Phil) Fullmer and Donna (Skip) Ambler. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren Mallory, Will, Aiden, Wyatt, Quinten and Lindsey as well as great grandchildren Kaylin and Conley. Don's family, along with his schnauzer Mr Bo Jangles were his heart and his laughter.
Don loved traveling across the country with Ann in their RV and he enjoyed reading and studying politics.
Don was a member of Glen Haven Baptist Church in McDonough, Ga and was solid in his faith. A few days before his passing Don's family noticed a fixed stare in his eyes, when questioned as to what he saw Don replied "it is Jesus!".
A Fellowship Gathering will be held in the chapel of Haisten Funerals and Cremations on Saturday January 27, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm.
