William Carl Smith

Mr. William Carl “Bill” Smith, age 64 of Hampton, Georgia passed away May 23, 2016. He was born in Jackson, Michigan to Virginia Lightfoot Smith and the late Edson Smith, Jr. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Kenny Smith. Bill faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force for ten years during the Vietnam War. He retired after 27 years with Sprint and was a member of the Hampton First United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed cars, wood working, genealogy, games and puzzles, yard work and spending time at the beach and traveling. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Dianne Smith; children, Michael Smith of Decatur and Karen Smith of Atlanta; mother and step-father, Ginny and Bill Horton of Maggie Valley, NC; step-mother, Edith Smith of Clarksville, TN; brother, Doug (Barbara) Smith of Lexington, SC; niece, Dawn Smith; nephew, David Smith; great niece, Kacey Eichhorn all of Lexington, SC; step-brother, Harold Brown of TX; step-sisters, Sandra Chase of SC and Brenda Turner of MA; in laws, Dan and Anita Allen of Merkel, TX; brother in law, Mike (Rhonda) Allen of Alapaha, GA; nephew, Jason (Katelyn) Allen of Tifton, GA; sister in law, Sharon (Tim) Edwards of Cypress, TX; nephew, Tim (Paige) Edwards, II; niece, Ashley Edwards; sister in law, Leigh Anne Allen of Merkel, TX; niece, Rebecca McInroe; nephew, Bo (Amanda) McInroe both of Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 – 3:00 pm at Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Brent White will officiate. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Nacogdoches, TX. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Bill.
