

Mrs. Yvonne Elizabeth Smith, age 73, of McDonough, GA passed away November 18, 2015. Yvonne was born in Georgetown, Guyana the daughter of Elouise Dean Phillips and Regland Phillips. After growing up in Guyana, Yvonne joined the Guyana Defense Force where she served her country and pursued a career in nursing. Yvonne later moved to New York where she continued her career in nursing and retired after 20 plus years. After retirement, Mrs. Smith moved to McDonough and became very involved with the Henry County Senior Services Center where she participated in a variety of activities. The Center was a place that Mrs. Smith loved to be, a place where she continued to nurture and help care for others. Mrs. Smith was known to be very social and truly enjoyed time spent with family and friends! She loved to sing, dance, and work with flowers and plants. Yvonne not only had a heart for people, she also loved her dogs very much. Yvonne is survived by her husband, Trevor; son, Aubrey; daughter, Gale Ann and her husband, Devon; son, Sean and his fiancé, Nina; son, Paul; son, George and his wife, Betty; son, Sheridan and his wife, Marcia; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Rudolf Phillips and his wife, Patsy; cousins, Cheryl Jackman and Nevel Phillips; five nieces and four nephews. Her late parents and one brother, Winston Phillips, preceded her in death. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 beginning 11:00 AM at Bethany Baptist Church, 4 North Bethany Road in McDonough with Pastor Al O’Quinn and Pastor Chuck Sheppard officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
