

Ada Mae Brown, 92, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020. A celebration of her life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor, Texas, officiated by Pastor Tashana Morgan. The family will receive visitors, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ada Mae Kemp was born on August 5, 1928, in Oglesby, Texas, to Mack Kemp, Sr. and Ada (Rogers) Kemp. The family moved to the Oglesby/McGregor area and Ada attended George Washington Carver High School, where the family was told she participated in basketball.
Ada “Missy” Kemp joined, and remains a member, Roberson Chapel AME Church in McGregor Texas. She presided over the YPD program, served as a lifelong member of the usher board, and devoted her life to walking with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Roberson Chapel. Ada worked as a domestic housekeeper before becoming an employee at Smead Manufacturing, retiring in early 1989.
Ada M. Kemp was united in marriage to Nathan Brown in 1945. From this union six were born, Linda, of McGregor, Allen, Ivo, Henry, Melton, and Roy Brown, of McGregor; five grandchildren, Michelle, Allena, of Killeen, Coby, of Atlanta, Georgia, Eric, of McGregor, and Antoinette (Chris) Perry, of Lancaster; and 12 great grandchildren.
After a divorce, she united with Emmitt McKinney, from this union three were born, Rickey (Stacey), of Fresno, Roman (Heather), of McGregor, Emmitt, of McGregor; Martha Wright, of Houston; Emma Franklin, Jackie Boswell, of McGregor; grandchildren Christi, Kayla, Corey; Shayla (Robert), Kelsi, Kalvin, Te’Juree, Lance, Luke, Daryl, Charles, Trent, Rodrick, Gregg, Erica, Edrica, Chad, Chance; and 22 great grandchildren.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Nathan Brown, Emmitt McKinney; sons, Allen, Ivo, Henry, Melton; daughter, Emma Franklin; sisters, Eda “Needa” Felder, Georgia “Sister” Thomas, Ora Lee “Nucie” Burton; brothers, Mack “Boy” Kemp Jr., Wesley “Koonie” Kemp, and Clint “Ducie” Kemp.
Ada Brown will be forever loved, missed, remembered, and cherished by Linda Alexander, Martha Wright, Jackie Boswell, Roy, Rickey, Roman; Emmitt “Boo”, a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, coworkers, friends, and her church family
