Alma Moore Pierce

Alma Pierce of McGregor died Tuesday morning, November 8, 2011, at the age of 94. Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011, at College Avenue Baptist Church 201 South Monroe Street, McGregor with Reverend David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pierce was born January 16, 1917, in Alden, Oklahoma the daughter of the late Albert Lincoln and Mathilda Jane (Strickland) Moore and graduated from Apache High School in 1935. On October 14, 1935, she married Raymond Pierce in Duncan, Oklahoma. After fifty-nine years of marriage, he preceded her in death December 30, 1994.

In 1954, she moved to McGregor from Borger, Texas. From 1961 to 1968, she owned and operated the City Café. She continued to cook for various places and organizations in McGregor. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in McGregor and was instrumental in organizing the Theta Rho Girls Lodge in McGregor.

Also preceding her in death was an infant brother, a brother Albert Junior Moore; two sisters, Juanita Haney, Annabelle Dinse;

a granddaughter, Chastity Alexander and great granddaughter, Stephanie Pierce and a great great grandson.

Survivors include four sons, Walter Pierce and wife Naty of McGregor, Gerald Pierce and wife Eddie of Lorena, Raymond Pierce and wife Linda, James Pierce and wife Missy both of McGregor; four daughters, Donna Baker and husband Issac of Dorchester, South Carolina, Deana Bennett and husband Amos of Coriscana, Karen Spradley and husband Moe, Sheilla Pierce both of McGregor; a brother, R.L. “Buddy” Moore and wife Nancy of Methuen, Massachusetts ; a sister, Wilma Coppinger of Fresno, California. Forty-two grandchildren, fifty-seven great grandchildren, twenty-four great great grandchildren two sisters-in-law, Imogene Moore of Apache, Oklahoma and Muriel Wilson of Duncan, Oklahoma.
